A preeminent Portrait Artist, Troy Roberts was born in New York in 1985. At the age of eight Troy left New York and stayed a short while in Antigua, then on to St. Croix. Troy Roberts graduated from Central High School and has always been attracted to the art of drawing.
After graduation Troy moved Back to New York and spent countless hours studying the great masters in the galleries and museums of New York. While in New York, during the summer of 2007, Troy had the opportunity to work with the Studio Museum in Harlem, where he was commissioned to draw the people on harlem street. His portrait drawings was then featured in The Studeo Museum in Harlem magazine. He also had the opportunity to meet with Jacob Torrossien, a well-known Russian painter and this experience changed his life. Troy studied under him for 2 years, and also attended a School of Visual Arts.
When Torrossien moved back to Russia, he encouraged Troy to follow him in order to study there. Troy Roberts spent some time in Russia, which in turn has greatly influenced his works. Since then, Troy has been involved in many events, and his works are currently displayed in the Art @Top Hat Gallery of St.Croix.
